Sunday School
Sunday School starts back up in September and we are looking for volunteers to lead classes. If you are interested in volunteering 6-10 Sundays to work with the youth of St Francis please contact Darla Burnett at drburnett@bellsouth.net or # 225-235-7206.

ANNOUNCING A NEW ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS
St. Francis will begin a new Adult Sunday School Education program beginning this Fall on the First Sunday in September (September 7th) at 9:30am located in Cameron Hall. The lesson plan is entitled 'Fearless Conversation' led by Jim Wingate.

What is Fearless Conversation?
Fearless Conversation Adult Sunday school curriculum is a unique curriculum designed to build relationships through authentic conversation. A fearless conversation is a healthy open dialogue that addresses "wondering" questions about faith and God in a compassionate environment, using the Bible as our source to find the truth. It’s all about sharing experiences openly and embracing doubts and questions. As you seek to understand others through active listening, you trust the Holy Spirit to guide you all the way. The Scope and Sequence of the Fall Session is entitled 'Why is Jesus so Radical?' taking scripture reference from the gospels of Matthew and Luke.
Please contact Jim Wingate at 610-8397 or call the church office at 665-2707 to sign up for the class this Fall.

Missing A Wheelbarrow?
If your wheelbarrow is the one being stored behind the Church Building, St. Francis needs to know if you have donated said wheelbarrow to St. Francis OR was it accidentally left behind from one of the occasions when a wheelbarrow was needed. The wheelbarrow has a flat tire. So if it is yours, please pick it up and return it to its home. If the wheelbarrow is being donated to St. Francis, I will gladly take care of repairing its flat tire.
Thanks so much, Dianne Gill, Jr. Warden

Out with the Old, In with the New
The old, wooden sign pointing the way for members and visitors to our wonderful campus and house of worship has seen better days. A new sign for the Maple Street/Anglican Way corner is in the works. Estimates are being gathered. Hopefully, a design will be decided on by the Vestry at their next meeting. A rough estimate for the sign is $6,000 - $8,000; we will NOT be going back with wood but with a new concrete-type material. Donations have already been given towards a new sign; approximately $2,000. If you would like to donate towards the new sign, please be sure to note that on your check i.e. "new Maple Street sign". There will also be expenses to get the electrical working properly out by the sign. If you have any questions, please contact me at (225) 405-7704.
Your Jr. Warden, Dianne Gill

Episcopal Church Women (ECW)
The Fall ECW Baton Rouge Deanery meeting will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Innis. For more information, contact Judy Knecht @ 664-6261.

Ministries Fair
Please stay after church on Sunday, August 24th, to consider signing up for a ministry in one of the many areas of St. Francis life both within our parish family as well as in outreach to the community.

Dig Deeper into the Christian Faith, studying the Bible, Church history and theological ideas and reflect on connecting faith with life experiences.
Education for Ministry (EfM) is a four year program (September – May) of education for adults in the Church produced by the School of Theology of the University of the South. Several members are already entered into the program, and we would like to open the group to others of the parish who may be interested and who could join the current group. The group meets weekly and is guided by a mentor. This is a tuition based program. Please contact Paul Rumage for details.

Operation Christmas Child
It’s not too early to start collecting items for Operation Christmas Child, especially with school supplies on sale right now.  Shoebox collection week is only a few months away.  Thanks!

Music
Many times, a person would love to learn to play an instrument but has neither the opportunity nor the money to buy an instrument or to take lessons to learn how to play. If you have one or more people who would like to learn to play, I have 5 instruments I would be glad to loan for a year or more again, 1) to someone who would like to learn to play 2) AND would take excellent care of the instrument(s): 1 dulcimer, 1 violin, 1 viola, 1 cello, 1 flute. I am willing to teach the instruments if you would like to borrow the instruments and don't have another teacher in mind. - Frances Ball
